The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today in the case of United States v. Texas, which will determine whether President Obama can proceed unilaterally with his plan to grant deportation deferments to some undocumented immigrants—and, going by the vibe this morning, at least, it doesn’t look like things are going to break Obama’s way. In other news:

  • The process of setting the rules for the Republican convention is getting underway this week, and wow, this thing could be a huuuuuuuuge mess. Huge. Seriously, read the post.
  • There’s a thing called the “National Diversity Coalition for Trump,” and it factors into today’s Trump Apocalypse Watch.
  • Houston got more rain than it’s ever gotten in one day—and the record was set before noon.
  • Some 350 people have died in an earthquake in Ecuador.
  • An Israeli soldier was charged with manslaughter for shooting a Palestinian attacker in the head while he was lying motionless on the ground. (The incident was captured on video.)
  • More than 20 people were injured in a Jerusalem bus bombing; none of them were killed, but it’s one of several signs that an escalation of violence by Palestinian terror groups is imminent.
  • Stephen Curry’s right ankle has become a matter of national concern.
  • And, as expected, the name “Boaty McBoatface” was the top vote-getter in an online contest to name a new British polar research vessel.
Have a good night out there.
