Stranger Thingsis beefing up its cast for Season 2. The Netflix hit is adding a Power Ranger and Broadway star as series regulars for its sophomore outing, the streaming service announced Friday.
Sadie Sink has been cast in the role of Max, a tough and confident girl whose appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era. She has a complicated history and is generally suspicious of those around her.

He steals girlfriends from their boyfriends, is great at drinking games and drives a black Camaro. But lurking under his apparent charisma is a violent and unpredictable nature.
Sink began her professional acting career in the Broadway revival of Annie. She then went on to appear opposite Helen Mirren in The Audience, directed by Stephen Daldry. On television, she landed a series regular role on the NBC series American Odysseyin addition to guest spots on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Blue Bloodsand The Americans. She will next be seen in the upcoming feature films The Glass Castleand The Bleeder.
Australian-born Montgomery recently wrapped production on Lionsgate's big screen reboot of Power Rangers, playing the Red Power Ranger, Jason Lee Scott — starring opposite Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston and RJ Cyler.
Netflix has also promoted two Season 1 favorites from recurring to series regular status for Season 2: Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, the missing boy who was at the center of last season's mystery while trapped in the Upside Down, and Joe Keery, who made a splash as popular jock (and boyfriend of Natalia Dyer's Nancy) Steve Harrington.

Little is known about Stranger ThingsSeason 2, aside from that it will take place in the fall of 1984 (almost a year after the first season) and feature nine episodes instead of last season's eight. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer have indicated that the show will delve further into the mythology of the Upside Down and, according to David Harbour (Chief Hopper) at New York Comic Con, we will see "justice for Barb" (kind of) after the breakout character's death in Season 1.
Stranger Thingswill return to Netflix for Season 2 in 2017.
