To clarify, the CDC isn't saying that the muffins are now infested with ticks, merely that ticks can be the same size as poppy seeds. It seems like there are so very many ways they could have communicated this instead of spoiling a beloved breakfast item.
The last thing you want to think about when biting into a poppyseed muffin is "Gee, how many ticks are on here?" But now, thanks to this oh so delightful tweet, the possibility of ticks crawling across your muffin will probably be constantly on your mind.

They just want to raise awareness on tick prevention, but there's absolutely no reason for them to incriminate the innocent poppyseed muffin.

The link specifies that the best way to avoid ticks is to keep clear of woods, high grass, and leaf litter -- places where poppyseed muffins are unlikely to be found.
