Apple has finally unveiled its highly anticipated iPhones: the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The new devices packs a few upgrades including 5G connectivity and a new stainless steel, flat-edge design.

The new iPhone 12 Pro line will be available in gold, silver, graphite, and an all-new pacific blue option. Both devices feature the same Super Retina XDR display with the iPhone 12 Pro packing a 6.1-inch screen while the 12 Pro Max ups that to 6.7 inches.

The displays come equipped with Apple's new Ceramic Shield front cover, which the company says is "tougher than any smart phone glass." It apparently has 4 times the chance to survive a fall from your pocket without cracking.

For cameras, the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max both have a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens (with a 120-degree field of view), 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens.

The iPhone 12 Pro's wide camera has a new wide-angle lens with an f/1.6 aperture (compared to the f/1.8 on the 11 Pro), which improves low-light performance for both photos and videos by 27 percent. Meanwhile, the telephoto lens has a 52mm focal length for 4X optical zoom.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, has a wide-angle lens with a sensor that's 47 percent larger than its predecessor. Apple says that means an 87 percent improvement in quality when capturing low-light content. You'll also find a 65mm telephoto lens on the Pro Max, which can zoom up to 2.5 times.

The Pro and Pro Max also pack LiDAR scanners for augmented reality apps. The scanner also improves auto focus speed up to 6x when capturing photos and videos in low light environments. Additionally, it improves depth in Night Mode, allowing for more detail and color to appear in each photo.

Apple also introduced a new ProRAW file type for photos, coming later this year. It lets Pro owners utilize Apple's image processing and still adjust dynamic range, color, detail, and more as they would with a regular RAW file.

As for the processor, the Pro phones also feature Apple's latest A14 Bionic chipset, which the company says is 40 percent faster than last year's chip.

It features Apple's MagSafe wireless charging feature as well, which allows you to wirelessly charge your device up to 15W. Essentially, the phone has an array of magnets around the wireless charging coils that allows it to properly align with MagSafe accessories including the Duo Charger (for iPhone and Apple Watch), phone cases, and a wallet attachment.

As with the iPhone 12, the Pro models pack 5G connectivity too. They support both slower sub-6GHz and faster mmWave 5G frequencies.

The iPhone 12 Pro starts at $999 (with a base of 128GB) and the 12 Pro Max at $1,099. You can pre-order the 12 Pro starting October 16 with full availability starting October 23. The 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order starting Nov. 6 and will ship starting shipping on Nov. 13.
